Job summary

Head of Engineering – Mpumalanga (Greylingstad)

An established international industry leader in the processing and renewable resources sector is seeking an experienced Head of Engineering to oversee the full maintenance, engineering, and project portfolio at their Mpumalanga facility.

✨ What makes this role unique?

The successful candidate will spend the first 6 months in the United Kingdom receiving hands‑on training directly from the UK Head of Engineering. You’ll learn global best practices, systems, and procedures – then return to South Africa to roll them out and drive engineering excellence locally. All travel, accommodation, and salary during training will be fully covered.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all maintenance, engineering, and project activities on site
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement and process optimisation
  • Oversee project planning, budgeting, execution, and reporting
  • Mentor, develop, and performance‑manage the engineering & maintenance team
  • Manage engineering budgets and identify cost‑saving opportunities
  • Report on KPIs including downtime, labour utilisation, and breakdown analysis
  • Implement stock control systems and asset logging for the full facility
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong engineering leadership experience in manufacturing, agriculture, processing, or heavy industry
  • Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills
  • A hands‑on leader who is methodical, solutions‑driven and passionate
  • Ability to motivate and drive accountability within a technical team
