Job description

Introduction To take responsibility for the assurance (systematic determination of whether systems meet specified requirements) of the implementation, control and management of the Group Total Quality and Food Safety Management (TQFSM) programme at Famous Brands Manufacturing Business Units, thereby assuring that all products and services manufactured by Famous Brands, meet the required quality and safety standards and comply with legal regulations. To provide technical support where it is noted that the TQFSM system is lacking to provide the required assurance. To provide support to the Group Technical Manager as and when required and execute any specific projects allocated to you.

Responsibilities
  • Verification of the Business Unit TQFSM systems through a rigorous internal audit and assessment programme.
  • Review of system records, trend analysis and corrective and preventative action.
  • Training of staff on food safety and quality as required.
  • Management of the Supplier Quality Assurance system.
  • Management of Recalls as required.
  • Manage the SANHA approval process.
  • Participate in TQFSM meetings and report back on the outcomes.
  • Initiate and participate in Management review meetings, provide support and report on outcomes.
  • Support the management, implementation and development of the iComply/Shopware, electronic Food Safety Management System.
  • Monitor and report on key quality performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Assist, support and provide technical input to the Famous Brands Manufacturing Sites with:
  • Implementation, control, management and continuous improvement of the Total Quality and Food Safety Management (TQFSM) programme.
  • Review of systems, programmes and checklists ensuring compliance to Regulatory and Standard requirements.
  • Conformance system through troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Review and verification of Business Unit Mock Recalls.
  • Support investigations of customer complaints and resolution there-of.
  • External audit support and preparation thereof.
  • Support the collaboration with NPD, Operations and Procurement to resolve food safety and quality issues where required.
  • Facilitation of knowledge sharing and standardization of TQFSM systems across Plants.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Suitable tertiary qualification
  • Degree / National Diploma in Food Science or Technology and / or related qualification with the focus on food safety & quality.
  • Completion of Internal / External Food Safety Auditor training.
  • Minimum of 3
  • 5 years' experience in food manufacturing industry in a QC / QA role.
  • Experience in a food safety team management role
  • Experience in the implementation and management of Food Safety & Quality Management Systems based on the requirements of latest version of FSSC 22000.
  • Have a detailed, proven understanding of and have received advanced training in Food Microbiology, Food Legislation, GMP, HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems and Food Safety Auditing.
