Overview
The incumbent to lead the Financial Department and ensure sound corporate governance through the application of integrity and efficiency in all financial practices. Well experienced in all aspects of financial management, i.e. financial projections, drafting of financial management statements, annual reports, costing, business improvement initiatives and management indicators, guiding the organization to greater efficiencies, developing and implementing financial policies and procedures and managing a competent team.
Responsibilities
- Overall functional accountability with all pertinent statutory bodies on financial matters such as VAT returns to SARS, AFS for external auditors, observance of South African Acts (accounting Standards) to comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP).
- Compliance with financial reporting and disclosure requirements as stipulated in the Companies Act 61 of 1973, as amended.
- Analysis and interpretation of financial results for presentation to CFO, CEO and Board.
- Preparation and submission of financial packs on a monthly, quarterly basis. This includes full management of the budgetary and forecasting process throughout the financial year.
- Budgetary control and ensuring that all expenditure of an operational nature is duly authorized.
- Attendance and participation in management meetings, providing financial input on operational matters and assessing financial risks and benefits for planned campaigns.
- Liaison with external auditors, bankers, tax authorities (SARS), pension fund administrators, insurance brokers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Requirements
- A completed postgraduate degree in Accounting or Finance e.g. Honours in BCompt or Honours in BCom.
- At least 10 years of working experience, of which 5 years should be in a management role.
- Completed articles of clerkship/trainee accountant program with a firm of Chartered Accountants.
- Practical experience in the following areas is essential: risk analysis and management; consolidations, including horizontal and/or vertical integrated group structures; consolidations of financials at a parent company level.
- A valid driver’s license.
