Overview

GENERAL MANAGER – Location: Cape Town. Reports to: Workforce Operations Manager. Manages: Operations On‑site Team. About Totalstay: Totalstay is a hospitality brand focused on premium aparthotels. We operate across multiple properties with a focus on design‑forward spaces, technology, and guest experiences. We are seeking an experienced Aparthotel General Manager to lead the management team and oversee operations across the property. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing housekeeping teams, VIP guest services, hotel marketing, revenue reporting, and comprehensive hotel operations. This leadership role requires a visionary professional who can motivate teams to achieve exceptional guest satisfaction while driving revenue growth and ensuring operational excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Leadership & Team Management Provide visionary leadership to the entire hotel team, fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Recruit, train, and mentor housekeeping, concierge and maintenance teams to ensure high performance and professional development.
  • Operational Excellence Oversee all aspects of hotel operations, including housekeeping, front desk, maintenance, and guest services, to ensure exceptional guest experiences. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimise performance.
  • Guest Experience Champion a guest‑centric approach, ensuring that all guest interactions exceed expectations and reflect the brand's values. Implement personalised guest services and amenities to enhance VIP guest satisfaction and loyalty. Address guest feedback and resolve any issues or concerns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Revenue Management Assist the Totalstay central Revenue team to develop and execute strategies to drive revenue growth, including pricing optimisation, upselling opportunities, and promotional campaigns.
  • Marketing Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities for revenue and experiential enhancement. Work closely with the marketing department to develop and implement ideas that enhance the brand image, credibility and occupancy rates.
  • Financial Management Work with the Totalstay Operations team to develop and manage the hotel budget, ensuring that revenue and expenses are in line with financial targets. Implement cost‑control measures to maximise profitability while maintaining service quality. Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts for senior management.
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance Maintain high standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and safety throughout the property. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies. Conduct regular inspections and audits to uphold quality assurance standards.
