The Foundation Phase Educator at Lion Pride Academy plays a critical role in laying the academic, spiritual, and entrepreneurial foundations for learners in Grades R–3. This educator integrates CAPS-aligned instruction with exceptional values, entrepreneurial thinking, and hospitality-driven classroom culture to ensure holistic development.

The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in literacy and numeracy teaching, classroom management, and innovative learning practices that support early childhood development. As part of the Lion Pride vision, the educator fosters learner confidence, creativity, and curiosity—empowering young children to see themselves as future leaders, creators, and contributors to society.

We are looking for an inspiring Foundation Phase Teacher to join our academic team. Foundation Phase Teacher responsibilities are:

Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan and deliver engaging, CAPS-aligned lessons that meet developmental milestones in Grades R–3.
  • Integrate literacy and numeracy with creative, play-based learning and age-appropriate exploration.

Learner Assessment and Support

  • Design and implement continuous assessments; offer timely academic feedback and differentiated support.
  • Track progress and address barriers to learning in collaboration with academic support staff.

Classroom Management

  • Create a warm, structured, and inclusive environment that promotes discipline, respect, and curiosity.
  • Foster a growth mindset and love for learning.

Parental and Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly with parents about learner progress.
  • Participate in school events and collaborative projects.

Professional Development

  • Engage in school-based professional learning, reflective practice, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Foundation Phase Teacher requirements are:
  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) in Foundation Phase OR a relevant degree with a PGCE in Foundation Phase.
  • Current SACE registration and police clearance certificate.
  • Knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and early childhood development best practices.
  • Strong classroom management and planning skills.
  • Technologically literate with the ability to integrate tools to enhance learning.
