Job summary

A leading mining company is seeking a Foreman Instrumentation to oversee control and instrumentation maintenance activities at their Burgersfort location. The role requires a strong leader with an N4/S2 engineering qualification and at least 4 years of experience in instrumentation. Key responsibilities include mentoring junior technicians, prioritizing maintenance tasks, and maintaining relationships with production personnel. Applicants must be computer literate and medically fit for underground work. Preference will be given to designated group candidates according to the Employment Equity Act.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:To support artisans with control and instrumentation maintenance activities and to implement projects on control and instrumentation for the Marula Shafts Sections.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• N4/S2 certificate qualification in engineering studies and a recognised Instrumentation Trade Qualification is essential
• Minimum 4 years experience as an Instrument Mechanician / Technician is essential
• Computer literate (MS Office Package) is essential
• Apply the principles of PLC Programming
• Read and interpret instrumentation drawings
• Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles
• Demonstrate an understanding of fault-finding techniques on field instrumentation
• A valid medical Certificate or be medically fit to obtain such a certificate for Underground Workings
• Previous experience as an instrument technician will be advantageous

KEY PERFOMANCE AREAS:

The successful candidate is responsible to:

• To lead the team through recruitment, coaching, mentoring and development and to ensure the transfer of skills to junior technicians / trainees and to escalates any non-compliance to the Operational Engineer.
• Directing Mechanicians according to emergency priorities submitted by production personnel
• Reporting to Senior Instrumentation Technician on all activities and problem areas
• Meeting regularly with employees to analyse problems and maintain a healthy service relationship between personnel and with clients
• Providing Instrumentation Mechanicians with expertise assistance in solving technical problems
• Guiding and assisting Instrumentation Mechanicians with daily maintenance activities
• Staying informed on the latest technology for application or replacement of present system/instrumentation control technology and divulge the necessary information to personnel
• Scheduling planned major maintenance services on control instrumentation
• Maintaining record system of equipment and technical drawings
