Job description

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and experienced Food Quality Control and Safety Officer to ensure the highest standards of food safety and quality within our organization. The ideal candidate will advise on safety measures, conduct risk assessments, and enforce preventative measures. The role involves promoting a safe workplace, providing training, and investigating incidents to improve overall safety.

Responsibilities
  • Implement FSSC and ensure all food products meet statutory, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Lead the food safety team, organizing its work and ensuring relevant training and education for team members.
  • Establish, implement, maintain, and update the food safety management system.
  • Report to top management on the effectiveness and suitability of the food safety management system.
  • Coordinate with external parties on food safety matters and liaise with suppliers.
  • Report on the suitability of PRPs, ensuring they are established, maintained, and continually improved.
  • Handle customer complaints and conduct personal hygiene inspections.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits, close out audit findings, and accompany auditors during audits.
  • Oversee cleaning operations, packaging inspection, protective clothing inspection, pest control, and hygiene services.
  • Compile, update, and maintain food safety management system documents and procedures.
  • Perform sampling of finished products or raw materials and conduct physical tests such as sugar using HPLC‑Brix meter.
  • Maintain traceability through documentation and record control.
  • Verify scales and thermometers weekly and manage LIMS.

Salary: R********

Shift: Monday – Friday 07:00 am – 04:00 pm; Saturday 07:00 am – 12:30 pm.
