Position: Finisher and Painter

Incomar is a leading aerospace and defence group based in Centurion, South Africa. We are expanding our specialised product development, production and flight operations capabilities. The group was established in 1999, with origins in military aircraft weapons, avionics integration and flight testing. Incomar Dynamics, a subsidiary within the Incomar group, is seeking a motivated Finisher and Painter to join the Production Department and report to the Head of Production.
Job Description
- Finisher and Painter within the Production Department.
- Provide support and perform the preparation of components, surface filling, trimming and drilling surface finishing, bonding components into an assembly, surface coating and surface coat curing.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings and process documents.
- Fit and bond components together to form bonded assemblies.
- Trim, sand and clean composite surfaces and machined components to prepare them for finishing, ensuring they meet precise dimensions and specifications.
- Mix and apply a variety of paints, epoxies and other coatings to prepared components.
- Finish products to high-quality standards and inspect for defects or inconsistencies to meet engineering specifications and quality codes.
- Operate and maintain spray booth and curing facilities; program and operate paint booth curing cycles.
- Ensure surface finish and cleaning chemicals are handled and stored properly.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technicians to determine the best approach for projects and resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used and processes followed to support traceability and quality assurance.
- Work within Incomar quality standards and adhere to safety procedures; maintain a clean work environment.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Senior Certificate.
- Applicable surface finish apprenticeship or training preferred but not mandatory.
- Police clearance certificate (required prior to commencement of employment).
Required Skills, Experience And Key Qualities
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finishing and painting role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process planning documents.
- Strong understanding of preparation techniques and application of surface coatings.
- Experience with repair techniques for composite materials.
- Knowledge of quality assurance techniques applicable to composite manufacturing and surface finishes.
- Basic proficiency in using hand tools and measuring instruments.

Preferred Skills And Experience
- Experience with advanced paint techniques such as colour mixing/matching and colour blending.
- Experience with paint/surface finish testing.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software for process documentation and quality control.
- Previous work experience in the aerospace and defence industry.
