Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Manager to oversee end-to-end finance operations, including financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and the implementation of procedures and controls. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial compliance, optimizing financial systems, and driving continuous improvement in reporting and processes.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Finance
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and best practices.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and compliance of financial records, transactions, and documentation.
- Implement and monitor financial risk management strategies aligned with IFRS and sound internal controls.
- Continuously review and improve accounting and reporting systems.
- Oversee full accounting functions : income statement, accounts receivable / payable, and asset management.
- Ensure adequate short-term and professional indemnity insurance cover.
- Manage compliance with SARS and CIPC registrations and requirements (monthly, bi-annually, annually).
- Provide efficient finance support services to the broader organisation.
- Collaborate with management and executive teams to ensure a cohesive finance function.
- Lead and manage the finance team, including work allocation, deadline management, and staff leave approvals.
- Liaise with and manage relationships with the organisation’s bankers.
- Review and approve monthly accruals, prepayments, and similar entries.
Financial Statements and Audits
- Lead the preparation of the organisation’s annual financial statements.
- Manage the relationship with external auditors.
- Oversee end-to-end audit processes, acting as the primary point of contact.
- Ensure successful audit outcomes through diligent audit preparation.
- Review audited AFS and income tax for accuracy.
- Address audit findings promptly and effectively.
Contract and Procurement Management
- Ensure spending aligns with procurement policy and value-for-money principles.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Review and enhance procurement policies and procedures on an ongoing basis.
Other Responsibilities
- BEE planning and compliance certification.
- Statutory compliance (CIPC).
- SARS compliance.
