Why We Need You

As a Finance Manager you’ll be responsible for driving the financial strategy, governance, and efficiency for various group companies. Key deliverables include overseeing corporate governance, audits, debtor and creditor functions while optimizing revenue, controlling costs and enhancing asset value. Your role involves financial reporting, stakeholder engagement, and aligning financial objectives with business strategies. You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance, mitigating risks and bolstering the financial stability and value generation of the organization within the property industry. You need to be focused, self‑motivated and dynamic, able to work at a fast pace in an ever‑changing environment, highly numerate, well‑organized and able to work to tight deadlines. Attention to detail and extensive accounting and reconciliation experience are crucial.

What You’ll Be Doing
Financial accounting and reporting
  • Review monthly management accounts including income statement, variance analysis, balance sheet and related reconciliations, inter‑company billing calculations to ensure appropriate billing across entities and in line with contracts (includes review of pre‑payments and accruals to ensure all costs are billed).
  • Review all trial balances to ensure completeness of the accounts.
  • Review open items reports to ensure all transactions are reconciled, queries resolved time‑ously, and all creditors paid time‑ously. Follow up with team on long outstanding items and ensure that notes are done.
  • Query any anomalies and provide commentary on the accounts for review by the Senior Finance Manager.
  • Ensure standardisation of reporting and schedules across all entities.
  • Review and update summaries of income statement, balance sheet and open items (e.g. Opex report, balance notes).
  • Review commentary provided and ensure accuracy and completeness.
Property Company Management
  • Manage financial aspects of property acquisitions, dispositions and lease agreements.
  • Collaborate with property portfolio manager to optimise revenue, control costs and enhance asset value.
  • Provide financial support for property development and capital improvement projects.
Financial Reporting And Analysis
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets and cash flow projections for the property company and facilities team.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and performance assessments, providing insights for strategic decision‑making.
FloQast Management
  • Ensure all FloQast requirements and deadlines are met monthly, quarterly and annually.
  • Ensure all relevant preparers complete FloQast tasks accurately, timely and efficiently.
  • First review of relevant income statement and balance sheet reconciliations.
Corporate Governance And Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practices in all financial operations.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to implement and maintain robust internal controls and risk management frameworks.
  • Serve as a key liaison for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support for audit processes.
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual audit files.
  • Effectively communicate with auditors to ensure all audit queries are adequately resolved.
  • Ensure all controls are adhered to, documented and implemented for SOX compliance.
  • Obtain new contracts for new billing or changes required. Ensure termination agreements are received, filed and recorded on the contract matrix.
  • Ensure all contracts are up to date and on file and recorded on the contract matrix.
  • Internal billing and contract management. Review internal billing on a regular basis to ensure that it remains practical and relevant.
Funds And Assets Management
  • Run weekly open‑item reports for all entities, query long outstanding items and request feedback on why invoices are not being paid.
  • Review and approve weekly payments, ensuring that the correct amounts and suppliers are paid.
  • Ensure time‑ous supplier and inter‑group payments.
  • Ensure only qualifying items are capitalised to the Property, Plant and Equipment fixed asset register and depreciated over the useful life.
  • Ensure any systems development has been capitalised in the accounting records on the go‑live date and appropriate amortisation and has been applied.
Robust And Critical Systems And Controls
  • Ensure that Business Central, TM1 and other systems operate effectively and efficiently for responsible companies.
  • Investigate and recommend solutions to improve operational efficiencies in the team.
  • Ensure that all accounting is in line with the Group’s accounting policies and procedures.
  • Draft process notes detailing how and why monthly tasks are performed to ensure business continuity.
Team Management
  • Day‑to‑day management of the financial accounting team.
  • Co‑ordinate functions in the team to ensure that all team members are working effectively and able to deliver reporting on time.
  • Undertake bi‑annual team appraisals and performance development reviews.
  • Ensure team key deliverables are met on time and accurately.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and support to all direct reports to ensure your team is working efficiently and coherently.
  • Bi‑annual setting of team objectives.
  • Manage all stakeholder expectations appropriately and communicate any potential problems.
Ad Hoc
  • Other ad‑hoc duties as may be required from time to time.

Essential Skills You’ll Bring To The Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; professional certification (e.g., CA(SA), CIMA) a plus.
  • Proven experience in financial management.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
  • Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Knowledge of IFRS.
