Direct Reporting Line: Head of Humanities

Emeris consolidates resources and expertise from IIE Varsity College, IIE MSA, IIE-Vega School, and IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management, with a unified approach ensuring a consistent standard of excellence in teaching, learning, and student support. Emeris – Newlands, Cape Town has a vacancy for a Part-Time Lecturer (face-to-face) in the following module:

Semester 1 in 2026

• Communication Science 1A: Interpersonal Communication
• Communication Science 2A: Organisational Communication

Key Performance Areas

• Preparation, conducting of lectures, tutorials and workshops
• Providing study guidance, learning support, and consultation to students
• Marking and grading of student assessments
• Module coordination and quality assurance
• A range of administrative functions connected to the discipline and modules being taught
• Involvement in relevant committees, workshops, task groups and other activities
• Other duties commensurate to the position as required

Other Job Requirements

• Demonstrated capability to lecture and conduct tutorials at tertiary level in the core courses stipulated at the highest academic level
• Expertise in e-learning programs such as Blackboard and Moodle
• Up-to-date knowledge of curriculum areas being taught at the highest academic level
• Demonstrated capacity to design, set and evaluate assessments at the appropriate level for the courses stipulated
• High level of communication skills in verbal, written and electronic modes
• Proven high-level administrative abilities

Minimum Qualification Requirements

• Honours in Communication Science
• Alternatively: An Honours, Postgraduate Diploma or above in one of the Applied Humanities fields with Communication Science in undergraduate up to third year degree level

Minimum Work Experience Requirements

• Lecturing experience in Communication Studies including all the subfields such as Interpersonal, Organisational, Intercultural, Persuasive, Global and Mass Communication

Working Conditions

• Please note that this is an Independent Contractor role
• Positions are part-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 18:00
• Must reside in Cape Town (All classes presented on-Campus)
• Applicants must be available to lecture for 2 -3 days (business hours) within a week for the duration of the semester
