Job summary

A leading mining company based in Mokopane, Limpopo, is seeking an experienced explosives manager. Responsibilities include managing explosives safety and compliance, conducting audits, and providing training to staff. Ideal candidates will possess a Grade 12 qualification, Magazine Master Certificate, and at least two years' experience in explosives application and management. Qualifications

  • 2 years’ experience in explosives application, management, and control.
  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation (Mine, Health & Safety Act and Explosives Act).
  • Any previous CIE experience and training is advantageous.

This role is based in Mokopane, Limpopo.

Job Description

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Explosives management
  • Order, receive and issue explosives, monitor stock levels against projected needs and verify materials meet the minimum safety and technical standards.
  • Coordinate, supervise and monitor all activities at the magazines and silos.
  • Submit reports on the operation to the Explosives Coordinator
  • Conduct explosives related accident/incidents investigation.
  • Independent review of serious incidents and accidents
  • Audits and investigations.
  • Facilitate the effective provision of technical training and coaching to support the elimination of identified barriers regarding explosives management and control.
  • Ensure correct and safe transport, storage, handling and destruction of explosives.
  • Provide training and coaching to explosives receivers and handlers.
  • Oversee the effective provision of training and coaching to external clients regarding the identification and safe handling of explosives.
  • Compliance inspections and planned task observations regarding:
    • Transport, Storage, Conveyance, application and destruction of explosives
    • Documents and logbooks.
  • Ensuring the daily destruction of old and excess explosives.
  • Conduct searches for unsecured/abandoned explosives.
  • Ensure statutory compliance

This role is at a C5 level reporting to the Explosives Coordinator

Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Magazine Master Certificate registered with Chief Inspector of Explosives (CIE)
  • Drivers License Code C1 with PDP.
  • SAPS Criminal Record Clearance.
  • Blasting Ticket/Rock Breaker’s certificate of competence.
  • Certificate/diploma in Explosives management or Blasting Engineering, (Advantageous)
Experience and Technical Knowledge
  • 2 years’ experience in explosives application, management, and control
