Job summary

An independent school in Johannesburg is seeking a qualified Senior School English Home Language Teacher. The successful candidate will teach English at both GET and FET levels, maintain high standards, and work collaboratively in a values-driven environment. The School seeks to employ a dynamic and professional person in the position of Senior School English Home Language Teacher who will report directly to the Senior School Head.

The successful candidate will:

  • Require suitable academic and professional qualifications
  • Have a current SACE registration
  • Be able and willing to teach English at both GET and FET level
  • Have Gr 12 teaching experience
  • IEB experience would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Maintain standards of excellence
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team dedicated to the care and development of students
  • Be computer literate and have experience using technology in his/her teaching practice
  • Be able to motivate and develop creativity in students
  • Be willing to be part of the cocurricular schedule
  • Appreciate working in a values-driven, Christian environment
  • Be required to uphold the ethos and traditions of the school
  • Be willing to apply for clearance, with the Child Protection Act and Sexual Offences Register

The appointment is effective 1 January 2026.
