An established engineering and equipment solutions provider to the mining sector is seeking a senior Engineering / General Manager to lead its Processing Plants and Comminution Solutions division. Based in Spartan, this executive role carries full accountability for engineering performance, commercial outcomes, and strategic growth across capital equipment, projects, and aftermarket services.

This opportunity will suit a professionally registered engineer or senior engineering leader with a strong background in mining processing plants, who is equally comfortable operating at boardroom and plant-floor level.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
  • Provide executive-level engineering oversight across processing plant and comminution system design, application engineering, and performance validation.
  • Ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose, reliable, and optimised for total cost of ownership.
  • Lead continuous improvement through root cause analysis, performance feedback, and engineering innovation.
  • Maintain ISO 9001 compliance and adherence to engineering and industry standards.
Business Growth & Financial Performance
  • Full P&L responsibility for the Processing Plants division.
  • Deliver annual budgets, forecasts, margins, and resource plans.
  • Drive profitable revenue growth through value‑based selling, lifecycle optimisation, and aftermarket pull-through.
  • Develop and evaluate business cases for capital investment, R&D, and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure disciplined cash flow, contract structures, and risk management.
  • Oversee sales strategy, pipeline development, and pursuit of major capital equipment opportunities.
  • Review and approve tenders, pricing strategies, and contractual terms.
  • Ensure robust project costing, risk assessment, and execution governance.
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex technical, commercial, or customer matters.
  • Translate mining customer operational challenges into differentiated technical and commercial solutions.
  • Lead development, localisation, and commercialisation of processing plant products and services.
  • Monitor competitor activity, technology trends, and market shifts.
  • Maintain strong senior‑level customer engagement across mining owners and operators.
  • Develop and execute divisional strategy and operating plans aligned to business objectives.
  • Track performance against KPIs and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop senior managers and engineering leaders.
  • Build a high‑performance culture focused on accountability, safety, innovation, and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, safety, environmental, and BBBEE requirements.
Requirements
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical or similar preferred).
  • Professional registration (Pr.Eng or equivalent) highly advantageous.
  • Minimum 7–10 years’ senior leadership experience within Ore Processing Plants (Crushing, Screening, Grining, Milling) or Heavy Engineering or Mining OEM environments.
  • Proven exposure to capital projects, fixed plant, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Strong commercial, financial, and contract management capability.
  • Comfortable operating at executive level while remaining technically credible.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally.
  • Valid driver’s licence and own transport.
