Electrical Design Engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and technical aspects of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification.

Responsibilities

• Actively lead, participate in and contribute to project design and technical aspects.
• Conceptualise, develop and produce detail designs, as well as deliver contract documentation, specifications and drawings.
• Sign‑off on engineering designs by taking professional responsibility.
• Successfully manage small to medium‑size projects.
• Design electrical and electronic building services for various types of projects.
• Ensure that required services meet applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical support, supervision and advice to discipline team and other project teams.
• Prepare project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
• Prepare and evaluate alternative concept designs, and liaise with other disciplines.
• Develop detail designs or detail design/build specifications.
• Facilitate and assist with the tender and adjudication process leading up to contractor appointment and site handover.
• Plan, coordinate and manage the design, procurement and construction of assigned projects.
• Conduct contract administration and do testing, commissioning and inspections of installations.
• Develop initiatives to improve the cost‑effectiveness and efficiency of project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Professional registration is preferred or eligible for Professional registration (Pr. Eng) with ECSA within one year of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Detailed knowledge of renewable energy designs.
