About the Role

As an Electrical Engineer at WEST, you’ll design and test PCBs and embedded systems for our supercapacitor energy storage solutions. This office based in Technopark, Stellenbosch will see you working closely as part of our Engineering Team to develop safe, reliable, and high-performance electronics that power the future of energy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop printed circuit boards (PCBs) using Altium Designer.
  • Program and integrate microcontrollers (ANSI C) for embedded applications.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on system integration and product development.
  • Test, debug, and validate electronic designs to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Document schematics, design files, and technical reports for internal and external use.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all designs.
  • Contribute to prototyping, troubleshooting, and continuous product improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electric & Electronic Engineering (or related field).
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for PCB layout and design.
  • Experience programming microcontrollers in ANSI C.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems design and debugging.
  • Experience with battery technologies or energy storage systems (advantageous).
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Based in or willing to work from Technopark, Stellenbosch (hybrid role).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • 1–5 years experience as an electrical/electronic engineer.
