The Role: DevOps Engineer (Mid-Level)

As the DevOps Engineer, you'll lead the design, optimization, and automation of scalable infrastructure across both cloud and on-premise platforms. Reporting to the CTO, this role blends hands‑on technical execution with strategic input, ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing systems that support impactful digital products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the DevOps function, fostering collaboration and technical growth.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines for faster and more reliable deployments.
  • Manage AWS environments to ensure optimal performance, uptime, and cost efficiency.
  • Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Enhance observability with effective monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
  • Automate recurring processes to improve reliability and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with security best practices and disaster recovery standards.
  • Collaborate with product and data teams to align infrastructure with business goals.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud, or Site Reliability Engineering.
  • Strong background in Linux systems, Docker, Kubernetes, Python, and SQL.
  • Expertise in AWS (or Azure/GCP) infrastructure and automation.
  • Skilled in Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, networking, and modern security standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
  • AWS certification is advantageous.
  • Curious, collaborative, and driven by impact and technical excellence.
  • Fully remote position (South Africa-based).
