Overview

Our client, a leader in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry, is seeking to employ an experienced Development Engineer to their team based in Port Elizabeth.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the engineering or automotive sector secures.

Requirements
  • A B-Tech degree or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the engineering or automotive sector.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or a similar CAD software package.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • A solid understanding of automotive vehicles and their construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level.
  • Previous experience with SYSPRO software is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in compiling and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs) is preferred.
  • Knowledge of composite component design and application is advantageous.
  • Previous steel and sheet metal fabrication experience is beneficial.
  • Prior machining experience will be an advantage.
  • Basic workshop hand skills are preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Design mechanical and automotive components to meet engineering and production requirements.
  • Develop and design jigs and fixtures to support manufacturing processes.
  • Compile engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), process sheets, and detailed instructions.
  • Implement engineering change requests and ensure accurate updates across all documentation.
  • Drive continuous product development, improvements, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to customers and co-workers.
  • Manage projects from concept through to prototype development.
