Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking a Cost Accountant for their operations in Worcester, South Africa. The role involves accurate costing for farming and packing operations, alongside responsibilities in cost analysis, inventory management, and collaboration with production and finance teams. Candidates should possess a BCom Degree and have 2-3 years’ experience in cost accounting, ideally within agriculture, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.

  • Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles will be advantageous.

Job description
Cost Accountant position available in Worcester.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accurate costing for farming and packing operations.
  • Perform cost analysis and reporting for farming and packing operations.
  • Monitor and analyse inventory variances, production inefficiencies and wastage.
  • Product costing and inventory reporting and maintenance.
  • Inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the production and finance teams to develop and implement cost control measures.
  • Support the budgeting process and financial planning.
  • Daily / Weekly reporting (Productivity).
  • Assist with the roll-out and implementation of new systems.
  • Provide general support to the Financial Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in cost accounting or similar role. Experience in the agriculture production environment will be advantageous.
  • A BCom Degree or Finance Qualification. Completed SAICA / SAIPA articles will be advantageous.
  • A very high level of accuracy in all work-related matters.
  • Own reliable transport
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excell, with experience in ERP systems and BOM.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work and function with a diverse team and different departments.
  • The ability to multitask and have strong time management skills
