Job summary

A food manufacturing company is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team in South Africa. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in cost accounting and exhibit high attention to detail. The salary range offered is R500,000 – R650,000 CTC per annum depending on experience.

Job description

An established food manufacturing company is seeking a Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This role is on site with some flexibility of hours, and will suit a candidate that lives in the Northern, or Western suburbs of Cape Town.

The successful candidate will have experience in cost accounting, or as a Factory Accountant. You will have a high attention to detail, and high initiative levels. The company forms part of a diverse group.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform cost analysis and reporting for manufacturing operations.
• Develop and maintain cost standards for raw materials, labour, and overhead.
• Monitor and analyze inventory variances, wastage, and production inefficiencies.
• Collaborate with the production and finance teams to develop and implement cost control measures.
• Keep BOMs up to date and relevant, and report on product margins.
• Assist in preparing monthly management reports, including variance analysis and financial forecasts.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• CGMA (or part thereof); CA(SA); AGA(SA); PA(SA) or similar.
• At least 2 years post experience in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
• Strong Excel, and exposure to at least a mid tier ERP system such as Evolution; Syspro; Microsoft Dynamics etc.

Salary

• R500,000 – R650,000 CTC per annum depending on experience.
