Job summary

A leading construction company seeks an experienced Construction Manager for the Kendal Project in Centurion, Gauteng. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in overseeing construction teams and managing the execution of projects. Responsibilities include coordinating site implementation and ensuring the delivery of materials on time. A minimum of 5 years of construction-related experience and a relevant engineering degree are required. This role offers the opportunity to shape project outcomes in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • More than 15 years construction-related experience for Artisan / Technician.
  • At least 10 years experience in construction for a Technician.
  • Minimum 7 years on projects for a Technologist.
  • 5 years experience on large/complex projects for an Engineer.
  • Experience in energy section is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation for site implementation.
  • Manage project construction phase.
  • Coordinate with Construction Leads for material delivery.
  • Implement on-site storage and logistics system.

Job description
Purpose of Role

A SACPCMP registered Construction Manager is required for the Kendal Project and will be responsible for overseeing construction teams during execution of the project.

Key Performance Areas
  • Oversee preparation for site implementation i.t.o. documentation, team appointments, readiness, facilities, reporting, etc.
  • Oversee project construction phase & support Project Managers in construction delivery.
  • Cover responsibilities as per clause 8.1 for Construction Regulations.
  • Ensure and coordinate with Construction Leads, that all materials; tooling; and materials handling; are delivered to site timeously.
  • Implement on-site storage and logistics system for all materials; tooling; and materials handling.
  • Provide input to outage planning.
  • Coordination and guidance to the Construction Leads.
  • Manage adjustments to implementation schedule as it progresses.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day activities and manage the required time schedules.
Qualification and Experience
  • Artisan /Technician (National Certificate) + 15 years construction-related experience on medium projects. OR
  • Technician (Engineering diploma - ND) + 10 years construction-related experience on medium projects. OR
  • Technologist (Technical engineering degree or HND) + 7 years construction-related experience on medium OR
  • Engineer (B. Sc. Engineering degree) + 5 years construction-related experience on large/complex projects.
  • Construction experience in energy section is advantageous.
  • Registration as Construction Manager with SACPCMP.

  • Good technical knowledge of engineering field.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Quality Assurance and Control in engineering projects.
Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Experienced with planning and able to navigate Primavera.
  • Ability to organise and get things to happen.
  • Follow SIDs (respect Hold & Witness points, use DR process for deviations, no work without approved paperwork, etc.).
  • Foresight and anticipation of future activities.
