Commercial Manager position available in Stellenbosch.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for designated key accounts.
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with senior client stakeholders, ensuring sustained engagement and satisfaction.
- Actively identify opportunities to expand the scope of services, deepen client value, and secure long-term partnerships.
- Develop and execute account growth strategies aligned with client needs and commercial objectives.
- Prepare and negotiate Letters of Engagement (LoEs), proposals, and renewals that balance client value with company profitability.
- Be accountable for achieving revenue targets and sales budgets across the assigned portfolio.
- Monitor and report on account performance, commercial pipeline, and key financial metrics.
- Oversee delivery of services to assigned accounts, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
- Coordinate internal project teams, ensuring alignment between technical experts, consultants, and client requirements.
- Act as liaison between client personnel and internal teams, proactively addressing issues and risks to maintain delivery momentum.
- As a member of the senior team, contribute to the shaping of commercial strategy and client engagement approach.
- Provide leadership and guidance to account coordinators, consultants, and cross functional project teams.
- Share insights on market trends, client needs, and competitor activity to inform company strategy and service innovation.
Requirements
- Proven experience (7+ years) in account management, commercial management, or client-facing leadership roles, ideally in consulting, sustainability, agriculture, or food systems.
- Proven experience of at least 5 years of managing a multi-disciplinary and diverse team. Proven people management skills is a key requirement.
- Strong track record of revenue growth and client retention within a portfolio of strategic accounts.
- Experience negotiating and managing commercial agreements and contracts.
- Knowledge of sustainability, agriculture, food systems, or related sectors is highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, or a related field (MBA advantageous).
