Job summary

A leading recruitment agency in Johannesburg is seeking a CNC Operator who can efficiently operate and program machines. The ideal candidate should have experience in high-volume production, a strong understanding of engineering drawings, and the ability to meet daily production targets. Job description
Qualifications and Expérience :
  • Experience of efficiently operating manual milling machines and Lathes.
  • Experience of Edgecam, Dolphin-Part Master software, Siemens and Fanuc operating systems.
  • Experience of setting & Programming on similar CNC machines
  • Previously worked in a high volume production facility
  • Can demonstrate accurate approach to work.
  • Excellent understanding of English and Mathematics
  • Must have excellent understanding and interpretation of engineering drawings.
Key Work Areas Include :
  • Able to effectively & efficiently enter programs, make adjustments & write programs from scratch as agreed with Management.
  • Lays out & verifies dimensions of parts, using precision measuring & marking instruments with knowledge of trigonometry.
  • Confers with Engineering, Supervisory & Manufacturing Personnel to exchange technical information.
  • Operates and sets machines to ensure components are produced to exact specification.
  • Able to perform off-sets on numerous machines within the facility.
  • Ability to change set-ups & make adjustments on all machines.
  • Good understanding of all processes
  • Operate machines from cold starts.
  • Measure components during the process to detect defects and if not then remove from process.
  • Ensure all components conform to drawing specifications.
  • Excellent interpretation of Engineering drawings
  • Accurately follow instructions both written & verbal
  • Correctly & accurately use handheld measuring equipment & check first offs.
  • Ability to Identify all quality issues & inform appropriate person.
  • Hit daily production targets.
  • Keep machine / workstation clean & tidy.
  • Work safely and abide by company Health & Safety Rules at all times.
  • To act professionally in accordance with company policies and procedures as laid down.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication links with fellow colleagues to ensure the above
  • Undertake additional training and other relevant duties as required.
  • To work at other sites as and when required
  • Attend work in a timely manner.
  • Carry out regular Quality Control
  • Support Engineering team
  • Monitor production Time Studies
  • Any ad-hoc duties as and when required by Management, or any other person nominated by the Employer from time to time.
