Job summary

A South African ICT consulting firm is seeking an Intermediate Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) to provide Level 2 support for Cisco-based network environments on a government project. Candidates should have 3–5 years of experience in IT/network support, proficiency in troubleshooting, and adherence to SLAs. Responsibilities include monitoring network performance, maintaining technical documentation, and resolving network issues. Qualifications

Role Summary

We are seeking an Intermediate Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) to support and maintain Cisco-based network environments on a government / public-sector project. The role requires hands‑on troubleshooting experience, strong documentation discipline, and adherence to strict SLA and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Level 2 network support for Cisco routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and WLAN issues in line with SLA requirements.
  • Perform network configuration changes, patching, and routine maintenance.
  • Monitor network performance and availability.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and configuration records.
  • Log, manage, and resolve incidents via approved ticketing systems.
  • Support audits, governance, and compliance requirements.

  • National Diploma or equivalent in IT / Networking.
  • 3–5 years experience in IT or network support (enterprise or government environment preferred).
  • Solid working knowledge of:
  • TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP
  • Cisco switching & routing fundamentals
  • Network security basics
  • Experience working under formal SLAs and structured support environments.
Advantageous
  • CCNA (completed or in progress).
  • Experience in government, SOE, or regulated environments.
  • Exposure to firewalls, VPNs, and wireless deployments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based service delivery.
