Cash In Transit Driver – G4S Cash In Transit Driver – Cape Town

Main Responsibilities
  • Accept accountability as custodian of the G4S vehicle and assets during operational deployment.
  • Perform Cash in Transit (CIT) services for various customers while ensuring compliance with company policies, driver operating procedures, and directives.
  • Maintain company security standards by complying with all vehicle and equipment procedures.
  • Receive and sign for the vehicle and all equipment, checking that everything is in working order and escalating failures to management.
  • Complete a pre-departure inspection of the vehicle for mechanical roadworthiness and systems, and finish the daily driver checklist in accordance with the company’s Mandatory Security Principles (MSP).
  • Be responsible for all systems, technology, and equipment used in the vehicle for the day.
  • Inspect the vehicle upon completion of duties, escalating any defects or concerns to the Control Room and management before signing off duty.
  • Drive responsibly, recording details of accidents, robberies, or any other incidents, and comply with all traffic regulations as prescribed by the Road Traffic Act.
  • Adhere to G4S Company Health and Safety standards, including the "Zero Tolerance Zero Harm" policy and the 12 Golden Rules.
  • Photograph accident scenes when safe and record all relevant details to assist emergency services.
  • Remain in the vehicle at all times until a Control Room operator confirms disembarkation is safe.
  • Notify the Control Room for approval before exiting the vehicle, obtaining an Occurrence Book (OB) number.
  • Control scheduled trips and perform standard checks before departing.
  • Ensure all operational equipment (customer keys, replacement bags, CPDs, radios, scanners) are functional prior to departure.
  • Report route details to the Controller via radio, including crew members, call sign, servicing areas, mileage, and times.
  • Maintain and report trip scheduling according to route optimisation best practices; report deviations immediately.
  • Report vehicle immobilisation or potential immobilisation to the Control Room at the first sign.
  • Follow all safety instructions to protect crew and load.
  • Report suspicious vehicles, persons, or activities immediately to the Control Room.
  • Execute operational security drills and maintain security vigilance at all times.
  • Take preventative action if suspicious activity is noted.
  • Complete collection schedules and hand them to Radio Controllers by shift end.
  • Refuel the vehicle for the next shift.
  • Keep the vehicle clean to preserve the company’s image.
Health & Safety
  • Foster a "Safety First" culture and adhere to company Health and Safety procedures beyond vehicle safety.
  • Protect self, vehicle, assets, and crew from risks, and avoid exposing the public or customers to danger.
  • Participate in safety forums at the branch level.
  • Report all safety incidents to the Control Room and obtain an OB number.
  • Attend safety education and refresher programmes.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
  • Wear protective clothing (bulletproof vests) at all times during duty performance, including secure environments.
  • Follow reasonable instructions or duties issued by branch management.
Requirements
  • PDP license.
  • PSIRA Grade C Certification.
  • Cash In Transit Certification.
  • SAPS Firearm Competency for Handgun Certificate.
  • Statement of Results report from Professional Firearms Trainers Council (PFTC) or Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) for firearms with business purposes.
  • No credit record.
  • No criminal record.
  • Must not be registered as a director of any company/business.
  • New applicants must undergo a pre-shooting assessment and OBET training, a 4‑day long course.
  • Transport and accommodation are not paid by G4S/IZI Cash.
