A leading South African university seeks a Case Officer to enhance equity and inclusion throughout campus. The role involves managing reports of discrimination and harassment, providing psycho-social support, and facilitating training sessions. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in social sciences and experience in case management. Strong communication skills in multiple languages and a valid driver's license are required. The Equality Unit (EqU) at Stellenbosch University (SU) is a values-driven hub dedicated to advancing human dignity, equity, and inclusion in alignment with the South African Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It is grounded in Section 9 (Equality) and Section 12 (Freedom and Security of the Person) through holistic case management processes. The EqU actively uphold these constitutional imperatives to create a safer and more equitable campus for our diverse body of students, faculty, and staff through case analysis, case management, intervention, support, appropriate referrals and oversight, as mandated by the SU Policy on Unfair Discrimination, Harassment and Sexual and Gender-Based Violence [in formal approval process] (SGBV).
The Case Officer will work closely with the Case Coordinator to receive and record reports of staff and students who have experienced unfair discrimination, harassment, GBV, workplace incivility and victimisation, to provide holistic psycho-social support as well as training/facilitation for staff and students.
