Job summary

A leading logistics firm in Johannesburg is seeking a Buyer I to join its procurement team. The ideal candidate will have experience in inventory control and vendor management, particularly in the automotive parts sector. Responsibilities include processing purchase orders and liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery. A strong background in procurement is preferred, along with excellent communication skills. This is a fulltime on-site position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and update inventory and asset records accurately.
  • Process and capture purchase orders on the internal system.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve order queries.
  • Conduct supplier reviews and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Monitor backorders and provide regular reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date BEE scorecards and supplier documentation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and update inventory and asset records accurately.

Minimum Requirements
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Procurement, Logistics, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a buying / procurement role
  • Strong knowledge of automotive parts procurement
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Outlook
  • Highly organized with a keen eye for detail
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
