Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to oversee a supermarket butchery and a production plant in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of experience in butchery management, a solid understanding of meat processing, and exceptional leadership and financial skills. Responsibilities include managing operations, achieving profitability targets, training staff, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in butchery management, ideally in a retail environment.
• Experience managing large teams (minimum 30 staff).
• Strong understanding of meat production and processing.
• Solid financial skills related to stock control and profitability.
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the butchery and production plant.
• Drive profitability and meet GP targets.
• Control and manage stock levels and product ranges.
• Ensure accurate pricing, weighing, and point-of-sale systems.
• Source quality raw materials and manage supplier relationships.
• Maintain food safety and hygiene standards.
• Conduct regular GP and stocktake reporting.
• Implement SOPs and process improvements.
• Lead and mentor butchery staff.
• Oversee training, performance, and team scheduling.
• Ensure exceptional product quality and customer satisfaction.
