Business Development Manager

CAF Southern Africa (CAFSA) invites applications for a Business Development Manager (BDM) based in Johannesburg. This role supports CAFSA’s Growth Strategy and is offered on a three‑year renewable contract, dependent on target achievement.

Job Description

Key responsibilities include prospecting and securing new corporate, government and development business, presenting and selling CAFSA products and services to the corporate sector and managing relationships across South Africa. The BDM will review, strengthen and grow the client pipeline, cross‑sell and up‑sell existing CAFSA clients, identify strategic alliances and partners, and support CAFSA’s expansion strategy.

Background

CAFSA, established in 1997, consults to the corporate sector and supports civil society. In transition from a non‑profit to a social enterprise, CAFSA operates under a new growth and expansion strategy and benefits from the global CAF network.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement CAFSA’s business development strategy, focusing on client retention, acquisition and pipeline growth.
  • Review, strengthen and grow the existing client pipeline, with cross‑sell and up‑sell opportunities.
  • Grow new corporate client portfolio, achieving an R3 million revenue target in the first 18 months.
  • Identify and secure strategic alliances and partnerships to diversify revenue streams.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • MBA degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 7–10 years of direct sales experience in the corporate sector.
  • Proven track record of selling complex business solutions to medium and large corporations.
  • High‑level strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, marketing and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strong numeracy, computer literacy (MS Office) and time‑management skills.
  • Integrity, initiative, motivation and resilience.
Technical/Soft Skills
