A financial services firm is seeking a Business Analyst for their Trade & Treasury Solutions division in Johannesburg. The role involves analyzing and optimizing processes within liquidity, finance, and treasury products. The ideal candidate should have 5–8 years of experience, proficiency in business process modeling, and strong stakeholder engagement skills. The Business Analyst will support the Investment Bank's Trade & Treasury Solutions division by analyzing, designing, and optimizing end-to-end processes across liquidity, finance, and treasury products.
This role demands strong process engineering expertise, deep domain knowledge, and exceptional stakeholder engagement in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Conduct detailed business analysis across Trade, Treasury, and Liquidity Finance functions to identify improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Gather, document, and validate business requirements through workshops, interviews, and engagement with cross-functional teams.
Translate business requirements into functional specifications, process maps, and workflow diagrams.
Analyze current-state vs target-state processes and propose engineering solutions to optimize performance, reduce risk, and enhance client experience.
Collaborate closely with product, operations, compliance, and technology teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.
Lead end-to-end process engineering initiatives across liquidity management, working capital, trade finance, and treasury operations.
Design and implement improved operating models, controls, and process frameworks in line with best‑practice standards.
Conduct impact assessments on proposed changes and ensure readiness across people, systems, and controls.
Develop process documentation, SOPs, and process governance models.
Provide subject‑matter expertise on liquidity finance products, including cash concentration, liquidity forecasting, intraday liquidity, and surplus cash optimisation.
Support regulatory and compliance requirements related to liquidity management (e.g., Basel III / IV LCR, NSFR, BCBS).
Analyze liquidity data, funding flows, and treasury behaviours to identify inefficiencies or opportunities for optimisation.
Partner with Treasury, Finance, and Risk teams to support liquidity modelling, product enhancements, and analytics.
Engage effectively with senior business stakeholders, technology leads, product owners, and vendors.
Present findings, insights, and recommendations to executive forums and governance committees.
Ensure alignment between business objectives, regulatory requirements, and technical delivery.
Minimum 5–8 years' experience as a Business Analyst within Investment Banking, Treasury, or Trade Finance.
Strong process engineering and process optimisation background (Lean Six Sigma certification advantageous).
Proven experience in liquidity finance, treasury operations, cash management, and liquidity risk concepts.
Solid understanding of banking systems, treasury platforms, payment systems, cash management tools, and trade finance workflows.
Proficiency in business process modelling (BPMN), requirements engineering tools, and documentation standards.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret liquidity and treasury data.
