Job summary

A leading mining company in Rustenburg is seeking a Boilermaker Engineering Assistant to ensure the safe marking, cutting, and assembling of metal components. The ideal candidate must possess a Boilermaker Serviceman Certificate and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role. Responsibilities include cutting materials, performing grinding operations, and assisting in load movements. Candidates from designated groups are encouraged to apply. A valid medical certificate is essential to qualify for this position.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Mark off basic regular engineering shapes.
• Cut materials using oxy-fuel gas cutting process or hand tools.
• Perform basic grinding operations.
• Assemble work pieces in jigs.
• Form and shape sheet metal using hand or power operated machines.
• Remove metals by gouging processes.
• Assist in moving loads.
• Complete logbooks and check sheets.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To safely mark off, cut, fabricate/assemble, weld and maintain metal components.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

• Boilermaker Serviceman Certificate is essential
• Minimum of 3 years working experience as an Engineering Assistant is essential
• Valid Medical certificate or medically fit to obtain such a certificate

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge with pertaining to basic health and safety principles
• Perform basic fire fighting
• Perform basic first aid
• Draw and interpret simple engineering drawings
• Read, interpret and produce basic engineering drawings

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Mark off basic regular engineering shapes.
• Cut materials using the oxy-fuel gas cutting process (manual cutting) or hand tools (Cold Chisel and tin snips).
• Perform basic grinding operations by means of pedestals / bench grinding machines
• Assemble work pieces in jigs
• Form and shape sheet metal using hand or power operated machines
• Remove metals by means of gouging processes
• Assist in moving loads
• Complete logbooks and check sheets
