Key Responsibilities
1. Sales Strategy and Market Development
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve growth targets in South Africa and the wider Sub-Saharan region.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including utility-scale, commercial & industrial (C&I), and microgrid projects.
- Collaborate with local partners, EPCs, and project developers to expand market presence.
- Achieve or exceed annual sales targets through proactive customer engagement.
2. Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, government agencies, utilities, and private sector stakeholders.
- Understand client needs and deliver tailored solutions that meet both technical and financial objectives.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through consistent follow-up and support.
3. Technical and Market Expertise
- Stay informed about BESS technologies, South African energy policies, and regulatory frameworks (such as NERSA and Eskom requirements).
- Work with engineering teams to develop and present technically sound proposals, including configurations, system design, and performance metrics.
- Deliver compelling product presentations and participate in trade fairs, industry events, and technical workshops.
4. Proposal Development and Negotiation
- Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals, including cost analyses and ROI evaluations.
- Lead negotiations to achieve win‑win outcomes with clients.
- Collaborate with internal teams (legal, finance, engineering) to finalise project contracts.
5. Internal Collaboration
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and manufacturing teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support product development.
- Participate in cross‑functional meetings to align sales efforts with company objectives.
6. Reporting and Market Analysis
- Track and report sales performance, pipeline status, and market trends.
- Analyse competitive activity and provide insights to management.
- Maintain accurate records in the company's CRM system.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
3–5 years of experience in energy or technology sales, preferably in energy storage, renewable energy, or power systems.
Solid knowledge of BESS technology, including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, and power conversion systems.
Proven track record in managing complex sales processes and negotiating contracts.
Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
Skills and Competencies
- Technical understanding of grid‑scale and behind‑the‑meter storage solutions.
- Knowledge of the South African electricity market, including IPP programs, C&I opportunities, and grid connection standards.
- Strong commercial acumen and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while being a strong team player.
- Highly motivated, proactive, and target‑driven.
Other Information
Location: Johannesburg (preferred) or flexible within South Africa.
Travel: Frequent travel across South Africa and the region.
