Qualifying Criteria
- Grade 10, 11, 12, or equivalent qualification
- 1-2 years of experience working with mining stockpiles and conveyor belts is required.
- Studying for mine sampling qualifications will be advantageous.
- Experience in a mining, processing, or metallurgical environment would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of sampling procedures and plant operations will be beneficial.
- The candidate should be physically fit and capable of working in conditions that are dusty, noisy, and physically demanding.
- The candidate must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and overtime when necessary.
- The candidate should have a basic understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations (MHSA).
- Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
- Applicant must possess good verbal communication skills
- South African Citizenship

Responsibilities
- Provide efficient sampling results from day to day and report to the supervisor(s) as required
- Monitoring of ore samples on the conveyor belt and other designated areas
- Ensure efficient handling of ore samples to promote and maintain a high standard of quality
- Collection of samples at predetermined intervals and splintering to the required size for dispatch
- Conduct routine belt sampling of ore and materials according to established procedures and standards.
- Ensure samples are representative, accurately labelled, and delivered to the laboratory timeously.
- Inspect belts, chutes, and sampling equipment for blockages or abnormalities and report deviations promptly.
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of sampling equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Record sampling data accurately and maintain sampling logs.
- Follow all safety protocols, including Lock-Out / Tag-Out (LOTO) where applicable.
- Communicate effectively with plant operators, the control room, and lab personnel.
- Perform general housekeeping in the sampling areas to maintain a safe working environment.Manage and maintain the area of responsibility in accordance with mine standards, procedures, and practices
- Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto : “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”
