Overview

The purpose of the Assistant Technical Manager role is to effectively support the management of technical maintenance issues related to a portfolio of properties. This position involves undertaking a variety of technical maintenance activities, including electrical and mechanical maintenance, as well as all aspects related to air conditioning, structural integrity, and plumbing maintenance. You will assist in supporting multiple facilities, including shopping centres, ensuring that all technical facility maintenance and related administrative functions are executed to the highest standard and within required performance indicators. This role works closely with a Senior Technical Manager, who is accountable for multiple facility-related outputs, including the successful execution of technical maintenance standards and controls.

Responsibilities
  • Analyse technical maintenance processes and performance to ensure the efficient operation of all buildings and facilities within multiple portfolios.
  • Categorise and diagnose complex maintenance problems and develop timely servicing schedules (e.g., sewage, air conditioning, etc.) to advise and recommend solutions to Property Managers.
  • Gather relevant approvals for complex maintenance issues and investigate the need for coordination with external vendors or specialists, ensuring timely service delivery for highly complex maintenance issues.
  • Implement effective identification and prioritisation of maintenance initiatives related to abnormal maintenance, while maintaining administration, allocated budgets, and actual delivery.
  • Improve project delivery in maintenance management according to agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot outsourced technical maintenance and associated contractor performance as defined within contractual agreements and in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Resolve technical maintenance issues within agreed service levels and ensure successful completion of assigned technical jobs, confirming acknowledgment by relevant stakeholders.
  • Research and ensure compliance with all aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including fire and hazard control.
  • Review and execute technical maintenance controls while regularly monitoring building maintenance through inspections and site visits.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent (essential).
  • Other technical maintenance or compliance OHS certifications (highly beneficial).
Experience

3 years of experience in a Technical Property Maintenance role (or similar) with experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance, including air conditioning, structural, and plumbing maintenance within a shopping center, office park, or complex building environment (essential).

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to travel at short notice as per operational requirements (essential).
