Job Title : Assistant Expense Officer (x2) Location : Southern Suburbs - Cape Town, Western Cape Type : Temporary Contract (Office-Based) Salary : R per month Our client, who are part of a leading international Islamic relief and development organisation dedicated to make a sustainable impact through humanitarian and development programs across the country and beyond, is seeking two diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Expense Officers to join the Finance Department on a temporary basis.

This position leans strongly toward accounting functions, supporting financial management, expense processing, and compliance operations.

The ideal candidates will have solid accounting knowledge, hands-on reconciliation experience, and a passion for accuracy and ethical financial practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process and manage payments and expenditures in line with accounting standards and internal procedures.
  • Maintain complete and accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with audit and reporting requirements.
  • Perform bank, petty cash, and supplier reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly financial reports.
  • Support the National Finance Coordinator and Head of Finance with reporting, reconciliations, and expense monitoring.
  • Contribute to process improvements and assist with financial system enhancements.
Requirements
  • Diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or Finance (required).
  • 2–3 years' experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within an NGO environment.
  • Must have experience using Sage Pastel (required).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures, reconciliation, and expense management.
  • Experience working with a general ledger of approximately accounts.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
