Description

Sumer Offshore Services are a people‑first accounting and advisory firm based in Johannesburg and Somerset West. We are proud to be part of the Sumer Group, a leading accountancy practice across the UK and Ireland.

We’re now inviting applications for our Early Careers Trainee Programme, the perfect first step into a rewarding career in accountancy. Whether you’re drawn to Audit or Accounts, you’ll earn your ACCA qualification, build international experience, and gain the skills you need to become a fully qualified professional.

About Us

You’ll join a friendly, professional team where enthusiasm and curiosity matter just as much as experience. Based in our Johannesburg office, you’ll support one of our UK businesses, working closely with UK teams and gaining hands‑on exposure to a range of clients; preparing accounts, supporting audits, and learning from real work from day one.

The Programme

You’ll join a training contract, combining practical client experience with professional study towards your ACCA qualification.

As part of the Sumer Academy, our early careers development programme, you’ll join a group‑wide trainee cohort from across our locations, training together through a blend of virtual, online and in‑person learning focused on building both your technical skills and the soft skills that will help you thrive in your future career.

What's On Offer
  • Full study support, including paid study leave and course fees
  • Buddy and mentoring systems to help you settle in and progress
  • Group‑wide cohort training through the Sumer Academy
  • Opportunities to grow your career beyond qualification
  • Exposure to a diverse range of clients and projects
What we’re looking for:

You should have a strong academic record and be on track to complete a B.Com Honours in Accounting or Finance.

You’ll also be:

  • An effective communicator – confident in listening and expressing ideas clearly with clients and colleagues.
  • Collaborative – a team player who enjoys sharing ideas and working together to achieve great results.
  • Time efficient – able to balance work and study with good organisation and prioritisation.
  • A problem solver – curious, adaptable and ready to take on challenges.
  • Results focused – proud to deliver a high standard of work and service.
  • Keen to learn – enthusiastic about developing your skills and career.

Applications will close on 10 December at 9am. If your application is shortlisted you will receive a link to our online assessment via our partner provider, Canditech, around the 12 December where you will have 7 days to complete this.

The final stage is our in‑person assessment centre, the dates of these are the 15th or 16th of January 2026 in our Johannesburg office.
