Deputy Manager (Contracts)
Job summary
A construction management firm in Singapore is looking for a highly skilled individual to manage and lead a team in commercial operational matters. The role includes evaluating and negotiating procurement costs, administering contracts, and overseeing project financials. Candidates must possess a recognized degree in Quantity Surveying or related fields, with at least 10 years of experience in a main contractor role across residential, commercial, or institutional projects. Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills are essential.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience with a main contractor in residential, commercial, or institution projects.
- Proficient in contractual practices and standard forms like REDAS, SIA & PSSCOC.
- Candidates with more experience will be considered for a manager position.
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a team on commercial operational matters.
- Evaluate, negotiate costs for procurement and recommend awards.
- Handle contract administration and resolution of issues.
- Evaluate and certify contract progress and variation claims.
- Manage project cash flow, budgeting, and cost control.
- Liaise with project teams, clients, consultants, and suppliers.
Skills
Education
- Manage and lead a team on commercial operational matters as follows:
- Evaluation, value engineering, negotiation of cost/scope for procurement and make recommendation for award
- Contract administration including render contractual advice, handling and resolution of contractual issues, if any
- Evaluation and certification of Main Contract /Sub Contract progress and variation claims, payments including settlement of final accounts
- Project cash flow, budgeting and cost control
- Liaise with Project Team/s and Client/ Consultants and Subcontractors/Suppliers
- Recognized Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or any other related discipline
- Proficient with industry’s contractual practices and various standard forms of contracts such as REDAS,SIA & PSSCOC
- At least 10 years of working experience with a Main Contractor and experience in residential, commercial and/or Institution projects is preferred.
- Candidates with more experience will be considered for Manager position
- Possess good written, communication, negotiation, interpersonal and leadership qualities
- Articulate and possess a digital mindset
