A local educational authority is seeking a dedicated part-time class teacher to cover maternity leave in year 1 starting April 2026. St John’s (CE) Primary Academy is a warm and welcoming single school academy with a strong Christian ethos at its heart. We are dedicated to ensuring that all children and staff reach their full potential and flourish in a caring and ambitious environment.

The governors are seeking to appoint the following member of staff:

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, committed and proactive part time class teacher to work in year 1, covering maternity leave, from April 2026. The successful post holder will be able to build positive relationships with pupils, their families and the staff team, helping to build further the positive outcomes for our children. Through good practice, enthusiasm for learning and the ability to inspire and motivate others, the successful candidate will harness the key strengths and energy of this Christian Academy.

We are seeking to appoint a temporary part time teacher who:
  • Has high expectations of pupil behaviour, personal conduct, and the children in their care
  • Demonstrates the ability to challenge and support learners of all abilities
  • Has experience adapting learning to meet a range of needs, including pupils with SEND
  • Has a secure understanding of how assessment and data are used to inform teaching, raise standards, and support pupil progress
  • Is a reflective practitioner who welcomes feedback, responds positively to change, and is willing to share good practice
  • Has a thorough knowledge of effective teaching and assessment across KS1
  • Demonstrates strong organisational skills and effective classroom management
  • Communicates effectively with pupils, colleagues, parents, and the wider school community
  • Works collaboratively as part of a team to plan and deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum
  • Has a willingness and experience of teaching in key stages 1 and Early Years
  • Is committed to contributing fully to school life, showing enthusiasm and dedication to whole-school improvement
