About the Role
We’re excited to be hiring for a Senior Billing Specialist on our expert Finance Team.
The Senior Billing Specialist reports to the Sr. Manager, Revenue Accounting and is responsible for developing and executing controls and processes related to the contracting and billing functions.
This advanced role will interact regularly with accounting, finance and operations stakeholders to transform and build process controls.
In addition, this role will be the senior reviewer of sales contracts guiding them from signature and acceptance through appropriate entitlement and billing in an accurate, timely and efficient manner.
The Senior Billing Specialist has a firm working knowledge of the contracting and billing functions and is able to own the implementation or transformation of processes to create control and efficiency.
This is a self-starting role for someone who can independently dig in and gain a highly detailed understanding of JumpCloud's CPQ and CRM systems as well as the related processes.
In addition to performing daily tasks in a fast growing and changing environment, this role will assist with and take on project work to build and improve the JumpCloud order to cash processes taking a big picture view and making them 1% better every day.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with billing and contract team to process contracts and associated billing
- Set up new contracts and customers across contract and billing systems for automated and manual processing of contracts and associated billing
- Set up billing schedules and arrangements as required by simple monthly, quarterly, annual and more complex hybrid or ramped billing patterns
- Execute manual and automated billing processes to create and deliver invoices and credit memos to customers
- Identify and correct errors and inaccuracies that impact billing or revenue recognition and elevate to revenue accounting and management
- Ensure that all documentation required for establishing evidence of arrangement and JumpCloud's right to bill customers is present, fully executed and attached to every order processed in an audit‑ready state
- Review fully executed customer contracts processed for appropriate inputs and potential process or revenue recognition anomalies
- Prepare various schedules and reconciliations related to contracts, billing and revenue as part of monthly accounting close utilizing solid Excel skills
- Maintain meticulous documentation of all review, processing, change, correction and management approval steps attached to transactions as appropriate in an audit‑ready state
- Identify contract terms and structures that present process and revenue recognition challenges and communicate them to revenue accounting and collaborate to resolve them
- Act as primary point of contact for process adjustments and inputs requiring manual intervention and propose solutions to automate
- Recognize trends in contracting and billing terms requiring new processes as the business evolves and propose changes
- Maintain a detailed and thorough understanding of JumpCloud's evolving contract structures and billing models across direct and indirect channels
- Execute on initiatives to build, improve or scale processes with automation, data leverage, enhanced documentation and training
- Rely on your meticulously maintained audit‑ready documentation and processes to participate in external audits
- Collaborate with revenue accounting and management to take on additional ad‑hoc projects to continuously improve contracting and billing processes
- Communicate clearly, effectively and appropriately within the team, across organizations and externally with the ability to tailor language, message and content to the target audience
You Have
- 5+ years of experience in a contract and billing role, with a strong emphasis on cross‑functional collaboration
- Experience in identifying and implementing process automation and data leveraging solutions
- Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce CPQ or similar CRM and accounting systems
- Experience with complex billing models such as indirect and partner billing with multiple users and / or billable entities
- Ability to think strategically about scaling contract and billing processes to support a high growth business
- Strong intermediate to advanced Excel and data analysis skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to problem‑solve complex contract, billing and process issues
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills within the team
