We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Backend Engineer to lead and shape backend engineering efforts in a fully remote environment. This role offers the opportunity to architect scalable and secure systems, modernize legacy codebases, and drive engineering excellence across projects. You will collaborate closely with frontend developers, designers, and project managers to ensure seamless integration and high-quality deliverables. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical expertise in .NET and PHP, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation. Accountabilities

• Lead the backend engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining web applications using .NET and PHP.
• Architect new systems and solutions with scalability, performance, and security in mind.
• Provide accurate time and effort estimates for new features and system enhancements.
• Oversee migration of legacy PHP codebases to modern .NET solutions.
• Ensure team deliverables meet project timelines, quality standards, and best practices.
• Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior developers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend engineers, designers, and project managers.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
• Experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Bonus: Experience with TypeScript, React.js, Vue.js, Java/Scala/Kotlin, Python, web performance optimization, security best practices, and legacy system modernization.
