Formación

Your Role as Paralegal

As a Paralegal at Dalal and Mehta Law, you will be the backbone of our production team, managing immigration and family law cases from start to finish.

You’ll prepare case submissions, maintain consistent client communication, and ensure legal accuracy in all matters.

Key Responsibilities

1. EOIR Case Preparation and Filings

  • Prepare and file EOIR‑specific forms, motions, briefs, and supporting documentation for Master Calendar and Individual Hearings.
  • Draft and organize evidence packets and exhibit lists for electronic filing.
  • Ensure all filings are compliant with court deadlines and EOIR Practice Manual standards.

2. Electronic Case Access and ECAS Management

  • Upload filings through the EOIR Case Access System (ECAS) under supervising attorney credentials.
  • Monitor ECAS for case updates, hearing notices, and DHS filings.
  • Download and maintain court orders, hearing schedules, and confirmation receipts from the ECAS portal.
  • Track and document electronic notifications and updates in the case management system (Docketwise).
  • Assist in ensuring all documents meet EOIR electronic submission formatting and size requirements (e.g., PDFs, labeling, page limits).

3. Case Review and Legal Support

  • Analyze and summarize relevant evidence and country condition reports.
  • Conduct basic legal research related to removal relief, procedural deadlines, and judge‑specific preferences.

4. Client Communication and Documentation

  • Communicate with clients to collect affidavits, declarations, and evidence needed for EOIR filings.
  • Prepare clients for hearings under attorney supervision by explaining procedures and expectations.
  • Ensure all communications are documented in Docketwise and follow up with clients within 48 hours of inquiries.

5. Government and Court Liaison

  • Coordinate with EOIR clerks, DHS trial attorneys, and court staff regarding case issues, continuances, and service of filings.
  • Prepare service packets for ICE/OPLA and document proof of service electronically.

6. Administrative and Team Collaboration

  • Support attorneys and administrative staff with tracking filing deadlines and hearing dates.
  • Assist in preparing packets for detained and non‑detained dockets, including printing, scanning, and indexing documents when needed.

  • Key Competencies:
  • Bilingual Communication Skills – Fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Tech‑Savvy – Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating legal case management software.
  • Detail‑Oriented – Meticulous attention to detail to ensure case accuracy and compliance.

  • Exceptional Multitasking Abilities – Able to efficiently manage a caseload of 40+ cases while maintaining quality and responsiveness.

  • Qualifications:
  • 1 year experience in immigration and/or family law as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
