A leading manufacturing company in Reynosa is seeking a Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in corporate governance, contract negotiation, and compliance with labor laws. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are required. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders, ensuring legal compliance, and providing training. Some light travel may be required.
To provide comprehensive legal support to Hitachi Energy Products de Mexico, specifically for the Reynosa manufacturing facility. The Legal Counsel reports to the Head of Legal for North America and operationally to the Plant Manager.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Support corporate governance and maintenance of the IMMEX program.
Manage powers of attorney, board / shareholders’ meetings, and legal documentation.
Assist with internal and external audits regarding legal, regulatory compliance and IMMEX program.
Handle permits, licenses, and interactions with federal, state, and local authorities.
Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements (supply, services, NDAs, leases, logistics, etc.).
Ensure alignment with global and local policies and risk mitigation standards.
Support procurement and logistics areas with import processes under IMMEX and origin verification.
Ensure legal compliance of IMMEX operations, including temporary imports / exports.
Coordinate with customs brokers and trade compliance teams to manage risks.
Advise on rules of origin, international trade agreements (e.g., USMCA), and customs valuation.
Provide preventive and corrective legal advice on individual and collective labor matters.
Support disciplinary procedures, labor audits, union negotiations and internal processes.
Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with local and federal labor laws.
Ensure compliance with corporate integrity programs (anti-corruption, data privacy, business integrity, conflicts of interest).
Provide legal & integrity training to relevant business stakeholders.
Support integrity related investigations.
Oversee local litigation with external counsel as needed.
Law degree with valid professional license.
Prefer minimum 10 years of experience relating manufacturing companies, ideally with IMMEX exposure.
Solid knowledge of corporate law, labor law, foreign trade, and contract management.
Experience with customs operations and international trade treaties (USMCA, WTO, etc.).
English and Spanish language skills.
Ability to work independently and on-site Reynosa.
Knowledge of governmental and commercial regulations and practices.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Practical, solution-oriented approach.
