You will lead projects developing plastic components for both interior and exterior automotive systems. Key responsibilities include structuring performance evaluations using CAE software, providing mentorship to junior engineers, and collaborating with suppliers to enhance manufacturability. The ideal candidate has considerable experience in automotive design and project leadership, along with a focus on minimizing weight while ensuring material strength. This is a full-time on-site position.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Interior Design Engineer to lead the development of plastic components for automotive interior and exterior systems. Leading interior design activities with minimal supervision, overseeing projects from conceptualization to completion. Performing structural performance evaluations using Altair SimSolid (basic CAE) software, ensuring optimal material selection and minimizing weight while maintaining strength. A key responsibility will be reviewing Jr. engineers' outputs, providing constructive feedback and guidance on improvement opportunities. An additional aspect of this role is collaborating with suppliers to optimize manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.

This includes coordinating product launches, identifying areas for improvement in current production processes and implementing changes as needed. This position requires active participation in PDTs (Product Development Teams) with GM Design Leaders (DLT) and Design Release Engineers (DRE).

The goal is to harmonize engineering specifications across departments, streamlining overall efficiency throughout each stage of product development.
