Functions:

Instruction and Curriculum

  • Develop and implement a music curriculum that aligns international music standards.
  • Teach fundamental music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music history.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Integrate instruments and technology to enhance musical instruction.

Student Assessment and Progress

  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students to support their musical development.

Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain an organized and respectful classroom enviroment.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote positive behaivor and learning.
  • Address any disciplinary issues in accordance with school policies.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to provide individualized support when necessary.
  • Lead and organize two annual music concerts and other student showcases.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events as required.
  • Adhere to professional standards of conduct.
  • Uphold the school's educational philosophy in all interactions.

Work hours

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 7:45 to 2:45
  • Wednesday: 7:45 to 4:00

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field is required. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • A valid state teaching certification in Music Education is required.
  • Previous teaching experience in elementary school music is preferred.

Professional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of music pedagogy and child development.
  • Proficiency in at least one musical instrument.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage a classroom effectively.
  • The teacher is expected to adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the teacher and student parent handbooks.
  • Participation in school events, including parent teacher conferences and performances, is required.
  • Confidentiality regarding student information must be maintained.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to the role.
