Job Description

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic construction manager to oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion. This professional is responsible for successfully coordinating and supervising the construction, developing and delivering an overall construction strategy for the project, reviewing the project in‑depth to schedule deliverables and estimate costs. The construction manager will be hiring and managing subcontractors and staff and providing input or preparing and submitting budgets, as needed. This professional will also be planning, organizing, scheduling, directing and controlling the delivery of the construction, overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations. The construction manager needs to ensure that value is maximized, the client’s reputation is protected, risks are mitigated, interfaces are managed, and the required project controls are in place.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience working as a construction manager, managing and leading a team on construction sites.
• Engineering degree with chartered status.
• Experience delivering industrial, commercial base building and fit‑out projects for retail/shopping malls.
• Understanding of the engineering and construction industry from a technical and commercial perspective.
• Knowledge of up‑to‑date design developments, statutory regulations, codes of practice and industry standards in relation to construction.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• PMI certification is a plus.

Skills And Qualifications

• Provision of discipline support and client representation to package managers during design, supply, installation and commissioning phases.
• Approval/sign‑off of all construction‑related plans and decisions across all packages.
• Review of contractors’ designs to ensure statutory and contractual compliance, good engineering practice, safety and environmental protection. Ensure the design process considers safe, efficient and effective construction.
• Identification of design changes from contract variations within the construction manager’s scope and timely notification of project and package managers.
• Implementation and adherence to the project quality plan within the area of responsibility.
• Highlighting of technical queries/disputes regarding contractor‑supplied documentation and assistance with their resolution.
• Ensuring adequate design safety risk assessments and monitoring close‑out of actions where appropriate.
• Providing technical input to the project quality plan.
• Supporting the engineering and O&M managers on construction‑related issues.
• Providing technical and commercial input into construction plans supplied by contractors.
• Analysis of project cost variances and problem solving over the course of a project.
• Preparation and monitoring of project budgets, hiring and managing staff, and coordination with other workers and managers.
• Clear communication, both oral and written, with owners, clients, construction workers, inspectors and other specialists.
• Decision‑making regarding personnel, subcontractors and tasks to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Leadership by delegating tasks to construction workers, subcontractors and other lower‑level managers for accurate and timely project completion.
• Technical knowledge of construction technologies, contracts and technical drawings, with a passion for quality.
