Technical Superintendent (Dry Bulk Vessel)

This position will be responsible for overseeing the technical operations and maintenance of our fleet, ensuring optimal vessel performance, compliance with regulations, and cost-effective management. This role demands a professional with a strong background in large vessel operations, demonstrating a proven track record in both offshore and onshore environments.

Responsibilities:

Vessel Performance & Maintenance:

Monitor and optimize the technical performance of assigned vessels to ensure high levels of operational efficiency and reliability.

Plan, execute, and supervise all maintenance activities, including dry dockings, major repairs, and routine inspections, in compliance with company policies and international regulations.

Manage vessel budgets for repairs, spare parts, and operational expenses, ensuring cost-effective solutions that do not compromise safety or quality.

Safety & Compliance:

Ensure all vessels comply with international maritime regulations (e.g., ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL), classification society rules, and flag state requirements.

Conduct regular vessel inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, implement corrective actions, and promote a strong safety culture onboard.

Oversee the implementation and adherence to the company's Safety Management System (SMS).

Technical Management & Support:

Provide technical guidance and support to vessel crews, addressing operational issues and ensuring the timely resolution of technical problems.

Manage the procurement and inventory of spare parts and necessary equipment for vessel maintenance and repairs.

Liaise with classification societies, flag state authorities, and other external stakeholders for surveys, certifications, and technical matters.

Prepare and present technical reports on vessel performance, maintenance status, and budget expenditures.

Project Management:

Lead or support technical projects related to vessel modifications, upgrades, and new-build supervision.

Coordinate with various departments and external vendors to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.

Mentor and support onboard engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Participate in the recruitment and training of technical personnel as required.

Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.

Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (CoC) Class 2 is highly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar Technical Superintendent role within the maritime industry.

Extensive experience with large vessels (e.g., Tankers, Bulk Carriers, Container Ships, Offshore Vessels) is mandatory.

Demonstrated experience in both offshore operations and onshore technical management roles.

Proven track record in managing dry dockings, vessel repairs, and maintenance programs.

Technical Skills:

In-depth knowledge of marine engineering systems, machinery, and vessel structures.

Strong understanding of international maritime regulations, classification society rules, and industry best practices.

Proficiency in technical drawing, interpretation, and maintenance planning software.

Soft Skills:

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.

High level of integrity and commitment to safety and environmental protection.

Travel:

Willingness to travel frequently to vessels and shipyards globally as required.
