A leading palm oil producer in Indonesia seeks a Pest & Disease Officer to monitor and evaluate soil physical characteristics affecting oil palm growth and yield. The role includes assessing soil compaction and mapping water reserves to enhance palm yield. A Master's degree in Soil Science is required, alongside advanced knowledge of Excel, R-software, and GIS. Strong communication skills and fluency in English are essential for collaboration within operational departments.
Studying, monitoring and evaluating soil physical characteristics relating to oil palm condition (growth, yield,..)
Responsible to monitor the spatial and time trend (short, medium and long term) of soil physical properties in Sinarmas Plantation, special attention related to mechanization
Responsible to conduct measurement and evaluation of soil compaction in Sinarmas area before replanting to determine land preparation procedure
Responsible to map soil water reserve in order to investigate with high precision the water deficit or water stress for estimating palm yield
Responsible to analyze and interpret data for developing scientific report to operational / top management
Work collaboratively with operational departments in SMARTRI and estates
Minimum Master Degree in Soil Science (soil physics knowledge with relation to soil biogeochemical properties as well as plant growth) (S3 is preferable)
Advance knowledge of Ms. Excel, R-software, GIS notions, geo-statistics
Fluent in English (either verbal or non-verbal)
High interpersonal and communication skills
Willing to be placed in LIBO research (Riau)
