About this role

PT. Dow Indonesia is seeking for Senior Technical Service and Development Specialist based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The candidate will be mainly focused on the product development and technical service of Polyurethane Foam in Energy Efficiency market such as constructions, domestic appliance, etc. and work closely with commercial team to provide technical supports to various customers in Indonesia to support business growth in Southeast Asia.

This role involves collaborating with commercial teams to identify and pursue customer opportunities, working with regional and global TS&D teams on development projects, creating tailored solutions to support customer product qualification and commercialization. Success in this role requires close coordination with commercial and technical colleagues throughout Asia Pacific and globally to launch new products, deliver effective technical services, and foster business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the commercial team to identify the growth opportunities in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.
• Provide product recommendations, develop new products, fine‑tuning formulation for existing products relating to customer needs, and on‑site trial support for identified customer opportunities.
• Troubleshooting support for customer quality complaints by working with the sales, production, supply chain and quality organization. Continually define and reduce costs associated with product performance and quality.
• Generate high-quality technical reports for development projects and write customer call reports. Conduct technical symposiums for industry meetings and at the customer sites, and to prepare technical literature/publications.
• Seamless teamwork, collaboration and effective communication with TS&D peers, commercial, product management, supply chain, production, quality control, and other functions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Polymer Science/Material Science/Chemistry or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years’ working experience in Polyurethane industry, formulation development and application knowledge, especially on Rigid Polyurethane Foam and/or other segments.
• Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Indonesian.
• Flexible with frequent travel within Indonesia and Southeast Asia, accounting for approximately 25‑50% of the time.

• Project Management: Experienced in planning and executing development projects, managing timelines, coordinating commercial, production, and QA/QC teams, and ensuring to meet the business goals.
• Analytical Skills: Skilled in analyzing experimental data, identifying trends, and using statistical tools (e.g., DOE, regression analysis) to optimize processes.
• Problem‑Solving: Capable of troubleshooting issues in formulation, scale‑up, or production. Uses root cause analysis and scientific methods to resolve technical challenges efficiently.
• Communication & Presentation: Able to present technical findings, project updates, proposals, and clearly explain complex technical information to cross‑functional teams, including non‑technical stakeholders.
• Self‑Motivated: Takes initiative in exploring new ideas, solving problems, and driving projects forward without constant supervision.
• Continuous Learning: Keeps up with the latest developments in chemical technology, materials science, and industry trends.
