A government entity in Minnesota is looking for a Public Utilities Financial Analyst to provide financial analysis on utility services and assist in complex regulatory matters. Candidates should have significant experience in accounting or finance, with strong knowledge of GAAP and excellent communication skills. This position provides financial, accounting and other technical analysis and interpretation of complex gas and electric utility regulatory matters and other energy-related issues for the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission.
The Public Utilities Commission will be filling one vacancy at either the Financial Analyst 2 or Financial Analyst 3 classification level based on the education and experience of the successful candidate.
Job Duties:
Minimum qualifications for Financial Analyst 2: Two years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or economics performing analysis, exercising judgment, and applied knowledge in auditing, corporate accounting or utility regulation.
Minimum qualifications for Financial Analyst 3: Three years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or economics performing analysis, exercising judgment, and applied knowledge in auditing, corporate accounting or utility regulation.
A Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or a closely related field may substitute for 18 months of experience. A Bachelor’s degree in the above areas may substitute for one year of experience.
