About the School

We are recruiting for a highly regarded international school in Indonesia, located on an impressive 44‑acre campus in the vibrant city of Jakarta. The school is a welcoming, inclusive community representing over 50 nationalities and providing education for students aged 2 to 18 years.

Situated in South West Jakarta, the campus offers outstanding facilities that support academic excellence, creativity, and wellbeing, including specialist music rooms and performance spaces. The curriculum begins with the UK Early Years Foundation Stage, continues through the English National Curriculum in Primary, and progresses into the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career‑related Programme (CP) in Secondary. Music is a valued and visible part of school life, supporting creativity, confidence, collaboration, and student wellbeing.

The Role

Following an increase in student enrolment, the school is seeking a Primary Music Teacher to join the Primary faculty from August 2026. This role offers the opportunity to teach Music across the Primary School, delivering high‑quality learning experiences aligned with both the EYFS and the English National Curriculum, using inquiry‑ and concept‑based approaches.

The successful candidate will play an active role in the extra‑curricular and performance aspects of music, supporting performances and events both within and beyond the school community. The role also includes facilitating regular wellbeing sessions, contributing to students personal development and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

The Primary Music Teacher will plan and deliver engaging music lessons that develop students musical skills, understanding, and enjoyment across the Primary age range. Teaching will include singing, listening, composition, and instrumental work, with lessons designed to inspire creativity and confidence.

The role involves leading and supporting musical performances, assemblies, and extra‑curricular activities, contributing to the vibrant musical life of the school. The ability to teach and lead sessions involving brass instruments is an important aspect of the role, encouraging student participation, ensemble development, and performance skills.

The successful candidate will assess student progress using a range of formative strategies, provide constructive feedback, and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity and progression in musical learning. They will maintain positive communication with students, colleagues, and parents, and actively support the schools wellbeing and pastoral programmes.

Candidate Profile

Applicants should hold a relevant degree in Music or a related field, along with a recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE or equivalent. A minimum of five years relevant teaching experience is required. Experience teaching Music within the EYFS and English National Curriculum is strongly preferred.
